Description

Hey guys!! So I've decided to enter in DeviantART's Contest; the Artist's Journey! As you all know it's been QUITE the journey! To think I started drawing digitally almost 5 years ago is CRAZY! How time flies is insane.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you (my wonderful watchers!) for supporting me so much over the past 5 years, I hope (and will!) spend many more moons with you all as my family and community! I know a lot of people refer to their watchers as "fans" or otherwise, but if you know me you'll know I'm not about that!
If you want to know more about this drawing, continue reading below! I've put it in a smaller font to ensure mystery to the picture if some don't want it explained.

(From bottom to top)

CHILDHOOD:
We start with the bottom layer, this is a summery of the start of where I am now. As a child, the first thing I was introduced to were basic shapes; I would draw many cats, dogs and my Granny and Grandpa walking their dog Jock outside their house. I never used colour (Well, not well at least) seeing as my favourite tool was good old fashioned graphite.
The first art book I ever got was a book on how to draw cats, the first cat I drew was also my Gran and Gramps, his name was Bill and he was a WICKED old meanie! We all loved him nonetheless.
And lastly, I had a thing for drawing outside with my Grandpa, hence the grassy surroundings of the first tier of the drawing.

PRETEEN:
Ah, the preteen phase...This was a dark (yet somehow colourful) period of my life. I had gotten into my first real relationship (lyyke omg rite?...) who at the time was SUPER into Anime/Manga/Vocaloid, so you can guess what my preteen-hood was consumed by...
On this layer I display my first stepping stones to how I got into fanart. Though those are all my super old OCs, they were drawn around the time I was learning how to "draw anime" as I used to say. You can see, I had no sense of proportion, no sense of shading or colouring properly, and just flat out poor quality, which in the end is fine! We all go though a "guh" phase, it's only natural!

TEEN:
Oh how I miss being an ignorant teen, (not much has changed...) I'm still only 17, however I am turning 18 in exactly 6 months (I'm terrified!!), by law in Canada I am a young adult, which is why I don't consider myself in the TEEN bracket anymore. Anyhow, this is a line of all the OCs from below (With one added, can you guess which ones are which??) improved MUCH later! This style was so comfortable to me and still is! I love how bright the colours are, how precise the lines are and how cute the characters are! Though you'll notice, there's nothing BUT characters! That's right, I was SO into fanart/OC art I never drew anything BUT people for about 3 years! Depressing right? Awe well, you live and you learn!

ADULTHOOD:
This is where I'm at now! (Finally!!!) I'm drawing landscapes at last!! Those two works were the two first ones I did, I was so proud when I completed them. Though the technique isn't very good, and though I have NO idea what I'm doing, I'm still massively proud of those pieces. Not to mention, this was a growing point in my life! I was cutting away from my roots for the first time ever, and I'm proud of myself and us as a community growing as a result!
They took a lot out of me, a lot of studying and learning, but I did it, and that's what matters!

And lastly, FUTURE:
As you can see, the future is a MESS. Mostly cause I only have a vague idea of where I'm going. At the moment, I've set it a goal to be able to draw and paint cityscapes within the next 4 months, this will take a lot of hard work, but I am DETERMINED to grow into the artist I want to be. I want to draw ships and cool space stations, I want to create worlds that may or may not exist, and I WILL get there one day! I suppose for now I just have to be patient and learn which I am MORE than happy to do!

Thank you all so so much for viewing! I appreciate you stopping by, and good luck in the contest!!
